Machinery manufacturing refers to the industrial sector engaged in the production of various power machinery, lifting and transportation machinery, chemical machinery, textile machinery, machine tools, tools, instruments, meters and other mechanical equipment. The machinery manufacturing industry provides technical equipment for the entire national economy.

The production process of a product refers to the whole process of turning raw materials into finished products. The production process of mechanical products generally includes:

(1) Preparation of production and technology, such as process design and design and manufacture of special process equipment, preparation of production plan, preparation of production materials, etc;

(3) Machining, cutting, heat treatment and surface treatment of parts;

The classification of the degree of production specialization of an enterprise (or workshop, section, team, place of work) is called the type of production. Production types can generally be divided into three types: single-piece production, mass production, and mass production.

single piece production

The basic characteristics of single-piece production are: a wide variety of products are produced, the output of each product is very small, and the production is rarely repeated. For example, the manufacture of heavy machinery products and the trial production of new products are all single-piece production.

batch production

The basic characteristics of batch production are: the same product is produced in batches, and the production is repeated periodically. Such as machine tool manufacturing, motor manufacturing, etc. belong to mass production. Batch production can be divided into small batch production, medium batch production and mass production according to its batch size. Among them, the process characteristics of small batch production and mass production are similar to those of single-piece production and mass production, respectively; the process characteristics of medium batch production are between small batch production and mass production.
